The Wisconsin governor race: history, data and the final week

At the Oct 21 debate, Tiffany called for returning the state's $3 billion surplus through long-term property and income tax cuts and said he would not sign a 'fetal heartbeat' bill, while Crowley proposed a constitutional amendment protecting abortion rights and said he would keep the voucher programs. Both campaigns ran bus tours in the final week focused on affordability. Marquette's final poll found Crowley leading among voters certain to vote and Tiffany ahead among less-certain voters, with independents favoring Crowley 56% to 26%.

What to watch on November 3

Wisconsin polls close at 8 p.m. Central (9 p.m. Eastern). Marquette found the race narrows with a broader electorate, so turnout among less-certain voters is the thing to watch.

Reading a race call: preliminary totals are unofficial. Media projections must name the projecting outlet; certification comes from authorized election officials.
